This deli is delicious all around. Their sandwiches and salads are so good. Sandwiches are packed with meat. Bread is fresh. Salads are flavorful. They offer a huge menu. Service is great. Nice staff. I enjoy the atmosphere and ambiance. Restaurant is clean and comfortable.
The brodard chicken combo was good. But I went specifically to try the chicken salad sandwich which was not very tasty. No almonds or walnut and too much onion. The service was fast and the staff was friendly so if I'm ever in the area again, I might stop by for some more fried chicken.
Service was great! The lady that helped me out was very accommodating which is such an utmost pleasure. The layout was so neat, I usually go to the one in Upland because I live closer to that location but I couldn't get over how the layout was at the Covina location. I didn't go all out to buy so many different dishes, so I ordered the Sicilian style pizza. Not bad. I will go back though because I like their soups and sandwiches
I forgot to take pictures of my food, but I got the turkey sandwich on squaw bread and my husband got the meatball sandwich and a piece of cake. We also got roasted potatoes, which were phenomenal. Everything was delicious!! I highly recommend Old World Deli. Service was great also!
Loved the interior! A lot of history and homeyness (it's not a word) that really resonates when you walk in. Lot of locals that come and go. HIGHLY RECOMMEND the MEATBALL SUB. Literally gives you meatballs the size of your FISTS and are DELICIOUS in flavor and size. Sandwich was well toasted and absorbed a good amount of the sauce but still retained its form. So very impressive. They have an amazing selection of sandwiches and deli meats that work as a local market. Staff was very caring and hospitable! Really enjoyed it overall. Not a ding to the star, but the prices are ok. Not the cheapest I would say but for a good quality sandwich and items in their selection it really makes sense. Overall enjoyed it! But would not come as often as I would other places. Definitely a treat here and there for myself personally!
One of my favorite delis in the area! It's tucked away off the main road, but there is plenty of street parking and free parking across from it. Theres a clearly marked entrance and exit--the entrance leads you to the food and ordering area and the exit leads you to the seating area. They have an assortment of food, but my favorite thing to get is their lasagna dinner combo (which I got to-go) and some of the chicken on the side. The lasagna is delicious; it comes with a side salad of chopped vegetables doused in a vinaigrette and a toasted garlic bread which is just as good! My friend says their star is the chicken, and I feel pretty inclined to agree. It comes out perfectly crispy on the outside, seasoned well, and juicy on the inside. There was a little but of a wait for the food, but there were plenty of tables and booths to sit at while waiting.
Food: [Chicken] Personally, the broasted chicken is underwhelming. The chicken's skin contains a strong salty, chewy flavor. Thankfully, the broasted chicken's meat is tender, moist, and thick. [Broasted Potato] Delicious potato! This is a star! It's fluffy and sweet. The potato's outer skin's texture is brilliant as well; it's firm yet not chewy. [Bread Roll] It's soft to push down; however, it's difficult to tear. It's generic bread with a chewy (almost rubbery) outside. [Potato Salad] It's fresh and delicious! Bright flavors with the potato shining through. Service: Old World's service is outstanding! The staff is exceptionally friendly and kind. At the register, I had the pleasure of interacting with Barbie. She's so helpful and sweet. My family had needed a bottle of merlot, and Barbie quickly found someone to assist. Barbie also expertly explained the menu whenever clarification was necessary. In addition, Old World is so clean! They've already prepared for the holidays, and it's festive and shiny! The atmosphere is welcoming with many cheerful families ordering their meals. However, I need to emphasize the importance of calling ahead when ordering their chicken. Old World needs ample time to prepare their chicken since it's cooked to order. I called 30 minutes ahead, and I needed to wait an additional 6 minutes for it to be completed. Regardless, Old World is a wonderful, welcoming location for families. Overall, it's a comfortable location. It's not a place that I'd want to repeatedly eat at; however, I have several family members that can't get enough of it.
Fantastic deli in Covina! We stumbled upon this place, as we were intending to go to a nearby restaurant, which had a long wait, and I'm sure glad we decided to try Old World. The atmosphere is quaint with a homey feel. Service was super friendly and relatively quick. The sandwiches were great but the broasted chicken and potatoes were amazing - I'd drive from OC just to get this chicken. The cookies were really good too.
Was craving a sandwich and didn't want to go one of those that is at every corner. I remembered that there was one in the area so I looked it up. Went inside and it's so nice and clean. When you walk in they have a lot of items you can buy and take home. They have a big selection of meats and deli items. I got to the counter and asked the lady what she recommended. She recommended the roast beef sandwich with grilled onions. I ordered that and made it a combo. Macaroni salad and a drink. As I was walking away I saw someone with fried chicken so I turned and asked her how it was. She said it's our best seller. So know I'll have to go back to try it. I got my order and it did not disappoint. Great tasting sandwich and the macaroni salad was really good. I will come back and try the fried chicken next time. The people that work here are very friendly.
I've had this place book marked for a while. We finally made the decision to go on a Saturday around 5 PM. Based on the reviews, we called ahead to order the family meal of the broasted chicken since it takes about 15 to 20 minutes we called the restaurant at 5 to place our order and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Once we arrived, we paid for our order and unfortunately, we ended up waiting 35 minutes before our order was ready. Despite that, the staff were really friendly and the restaurant was surprisingly busy for it being early for dinner. The vibe of the restaurant is very old-school, but I loved how they had displays of desserts (cookies, cakes, slices, cheesecakes, etc.). They also sell various Italian products from gelato to wine to bread. As for their broasted chicken, so good! I can definitely see why this place is highly rated. Despite the long wait, we will definitely be back for the chicken.
